I got a Facebook warning when I used the word crackers years ago. As in, Ritz crackers. It’s why I am here. Facebook is king, but I am okay building in other places

WHAT?! That's outrageous. What an arbitrary reason for a total blackout. Your post did make me laugh, but man I'd be so steamed. It's a good reminder to export my photos because it can all go up in smoke.

It seems very clear that something Facebook has deployed has run amok, as I've heard stories of multiple creators that had this happen recently, people not being able to stream from streamyard onto fb, etc... ridiculous.

Oh yeah as for pictures! Fb gave me the opportunity to download all me profile info. It did pull down all my pictures... If by all I meant THREE TOTALLY RANDOM PICS. Seriously, there are more than three pics from our time at lake collect a con. I'm just glad I got access back, cuz losing 15 years of pics would've been pretty devastating

I wouldn't be surprised to find out they were testing some underbaked AI moderation feature. The photo export feature, at least, used to work. As Lando said, "This deal is getting worse all the time."

Definitely. I remember, maybe a year or so ago, FB went on a crusade against anyone using tinyurl links. People (including us) were getting TOS violations for posts that were like... two years old.

All of these social media sites are ridiculous. I got banned from Instagram for violating their TOS even though I had never logged in! Every time I tried to set up an account it said my email was already in use, and every time I requested a password reset (even though I knew I didn't have an account), they expectedly told me there was no account for that email. Then finally they said "sorry, you're evil, go away". For some reason I actually put the effort into finding a way to appeal it, even though I was really only signing up to look at posts from one author whose newsletter I follow and didn't really care about the service anyway. Now that I'm actually "in", I think I've used it maybe twice!

Then one time, without warning, I got banned from Youtube for TOS violations, even though I've posted maybe one response to a video in my entire tenure there and never uploaded a video myself. Now that one I appealed right away because I do watch a lot of videos, and they reinstated quickly, but as Matt pointed out it's scary that they can just drop you in an instant without even justifying it. To this day I don't know what TOS I actually supposedly violated for either of these services.

I had a situation happen one time at a previous job where I got called into HR. I was getting a reprimand, but they would not tell me what happened, or what I was being charged with. I was told 'don't do it again!' I was like 'can I know what I'm being accused of? Isn't that my right?!' Come to find out, someone in the office was lying to cover up a misdeed, and they threw my name in the pot to take the heat off themselves. So again, wrongly accused.

So yeah all this kinda stuff is like life unfortunately imitating... digital life.

Appreciated, man. Just know the personal violation was strong with this one. That's for certain!
