Hey everyone! After all of the insanity and derailment with FB bans, etc… we want to make a final statement about TATSUMI: THE SERPENT MISTRESS #1, which ENDS on Kickstarter TOMORROW, June 12th, at 10pm EDT / 7pm PDT. We want to show you everything that the campaign currently entails, PLUS tell you why it’s IMPORTANT TO US, and why we think YOU should consider being a part of it!

HERE’S WHAT THE CAMPAIGN ENTAILS
First things first, we’ll let the campaign video do its thing (btw video production and music are #teamINSYM):
The is a BRAND NEW story and series from us, that follows TATSUMI NAKIHANA, that last surviving member of a fallen empire, who’s hell bent on retribution and revenge against the evil horde that left her kingdom as nothing more than a trail of embers, ash, and corpses: The post-human DARK KONQUESTORS, and their vampire-like, spirit sucking accomplices: The SOUL RIPPERS.
Before she can do that, however, she must figure out her own path of survival in a world she didn't even know existed, aligning with the most unexpected of individuals (the crew of the pirate ship, the SIDESTALKER) in a swashbuckling, high seas adventure.
In this campaign we have some great COVERS, SHIRTS, SOCKS, Poker Chips, Custom Leatherwork, and even an MTG style token / trading card! Let’s take a look!
There are also some digital PDFs that will be included with every tier backer’s pledge, alongside some opportunities at other really cool items (via stretch goals). You can see the stretch goals graphic on the campaign (currently we’re 8 backers and/or $714 away from the next checkpoints).
WHY IS THIS TITLE AND CAMPAIGN IMPORTANT TO US?
One of the things that excites us the most is that this is our first series with a singular, defined, STRONG female lead. This doesn’t mean that we haven’t had strong females before, quite the contrary. We’ve had quite a few, but normally in ensemble roles, or support roles. TATSUMI is front and center in this campaign and it’s super fun seeing her develop in a historically male dominated society.
Crowdfunding is also the single most important element for comic writers / content creators to acquire funds to sustain their craft. Let’s face it, the ‘distribution’ model (comics go into stores, people buy from stores, creators get some form of royalty back) is a hopelessly broken and outdated business plan for all but a very small fraction of individuals. That doesn’t mean there’s no relevance at all, it just means the belief that that process will be the primary source to fund the production of products like we create is not realistic. Live events and appearances are also a minefield of rising expenses and a smaller piece of the show floor relevance (most shows nowadays are celebrity signature and selfie centric).
Crowdfunding helps us to directly interact with the fans and supporters, get you EXACTLY what you want, and to show you how much YOU matter. This is why when someone has a new crowdfunding campaign you see them relentlessly promote it, because success there truly is the lifeblood and backbone of our creative process.
WHY SHOULD YOU CONSINDER THIS CAMPAIGN?
