What a great time at GEEKD CON (minus a shipping snafu), new MISFITZ Webisodes on WEBTOON, and more!
A lot on the plate to discuss, so let’s get right down to it!
GEEK’D CON SHREVEPORT 2024 WRAP!
GEEKD CON 2024 was an incredible weekend full of meeting up with the warm, friendly folks of the ArkLaTex area, hanging with our Scout comrades (Andrea, Hector, Mitchell, Brenton, and Greg), and meeting new friends. You all in Shreveport are just cut from a different cloth. For #TeamInsym, it was a successful and satisfying weekend. We can’t wait for more opportunities like this.
The highlight was being able to host the Cosplay contest and see the reactions of the winners and interact with all of the contestants. It was also great being able to connect and spend time with some of the celebs like EFREN RAMIREZ (Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite), DANA DELORENZO (Kelly in Ash vs Evil Dead) KEVIN DURAND (Vasiliy Fet in The Strain) and more. Looking forward to seeing them again at future events!
…BUT THERE’S ALWAYS THE DREADED TRAVEL CURSE…
It looked like we were going to make it through an entire trip without any flight delays, until Steph’s FINAL leg back to California got her delayed over 7 hours. One of these days we’ll have a trip without ANY complications. That being said, she did fare better than one of our show boxes.
Before the show we shipped a few boxes of merch to ourselves at the venue. This is by far the cheapest way to get items there unless you’re driving them yourself.
Four of the five boxes got there for the show. The fifth, it’s somewhere on a journey and an adventure that only it knows about. The post office show scans in Jacksonville, FL, Dallas, TX, and Shreveport, LA, but no one claims to know of its existence.
As of now, it’s been missing in action for a week. So what’s in the box? Oh, copies of FOUR different titles of ours, some at the end of the print run, so we are VERY limited on a couple of those items for now until we can either figure out where the box is, or get our insurance claim on the box started (it was insured), and potentially get replacements printed. We’ll keep everyone posted on the status of our missing swag!

FAST FACT: Artist Rahil Mohsin was not familiar with all the inner workings of pinball machines, so he got a quick education on the game while doing this story, just like good ol' Slothie did! It was truly life imitating art in the best of ways!

WHAT IS WEBTOON?
WEBTOON (www.webtoons.com) is the largest digital comic platform in the world, and it’s FREE. What makes it unique is that is uses what’s called the ‘infinite scroll’ format. This means you’ll read stories vertically, just like you do any news article on your smart phone (it can be read on your computer as well).
HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY IF WEBTOON IS FREE?
‘Exposure’ is like a four-letter word in content creation. Yes, exposure doesn’t pay the bills, but if people don’t know your title exists, there’s no way for them to be able to consider supporting it. We are hoping that through this extra exposure, people will consider buying physical products (VISIT OUR STORE HERE), and/or supporting us on PATREON. Because WEBTOON is tied into PATREON we have started an account there. You can support our endeavors there and get many behind the scenes and exclusive perks, for ALL our titles!
Most importantly, we want MORE PEOPLE to be able to ENJOY the characters and stories that we’ve written, and that RAHIL MOHSIN has so masterfully brought to life with his art!
SO WHAT ARE WE ASKING YOU TO DO?
First and foremost, we want you to go to the WEBTOON site, and READ Misfitz Clubhouse. Once you set yourself up a FREE account, you can ‘SUBSCRIBE’ to Misfitz Clubhouse, and also you can comment on the stories. Each episode gets its own comment section. The more likes, the more comments, the better! We’d also love you to spread the word in your social media circles!
WILL YOU RELEASE OTHER TITLES ON WEBTOON CANVAS?
Anything is possible. We are starting with MISFITZ CLUBHOUSE, but would love to see some of our other titles have new life breathed into them on the site as well. But first things first, let’s build up MISFITZ and go from there!
