We have a few fun items to talk about today, including our FREE COMIC BOOK DAY ‘Coast To Coast’ APPEARANCES, some TROLLFEST talk (that pertains to #TeamINSYM), a TALES FROM NOCTURNIA update (of course), + a quick HEIRS OF ISILDUR update, and more!
#TEAMINSYM FREE COMIC BOOK DAY COAST TO COAST 2024!
It's time again for the ANNUAL #TeamINSYM Free Comic Book Day Coast to Coast 2024. As is tradition, Matt will start things off on the EAST COAST at Bearded Browncoat Comics & Games in Ocala, FL, from 10am-3pm EDT. Steph will then join in the festivities on the WEST COAST at Collectors Choice in Visalia, CA from 10am-2pm PDT.
We'll have a wide assortment of items at both locations. If you're going to COLLECTORS CHOICE, Steph Cannon will have some items that have never been available at a WEST COAST APPEARANCE previously, like multiple covers for I AM QIDO, both variants of our COLLECTIBLE COLORED VINYL RECORDS, and more! Don't miss your chance to get your hands on these at a rare #TeamINSYM West Coast appearance!
WHAT IS FREE COMIC BOOK DAY? It’s exactly what it sounds like it is. Your local (if participating) comic book store will have stacks of specific titles that you can get FOR FREE at their location. This is a nationwide event, so most likely there’s a store near you that is taking part. On top of that, virtually ALL stores will have creators (like us) and artists on hand as well! Check your local store’s listings to see who might be there!
LET’S TALK A LITTLE TROLLFEST - THE NINE YEAR CIRCLE IS COMPLETE!
This past week, a NINE YEAR circle was completed, when Matt’s youngest daughter, Kam, was able to see TROLLFEST live in concert for the first time ever. She went viral when she was *9* because she was not allowed to attend an out of state show of theirs. She wrote the band a letter, telling them of her dissatisfaction. The band then gave her a shirt (which is the one she’s wearing in the pics above, nine years later) and a bunch of other swag. This overall interaction took on a life of its own online, so much so that when these pics from 2024 were posted on facebook, there were people saying they remembered when the first event took place!
Their intention was to come back in just a few years, but we all know what happened in 2020 that derailed just about everything, right?
SO WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH #TEAMINSYM? The wacky Norwegians in Trollfest are some of Matt’s closest friends in the metal music world (most notably Mr. Seidel aka John Espen Sagstad). Notice them holding up our HEIRS OF ISILDUR vs TALES FROM NOCTURNIA vinyl album? That’s because their guitarist FABIO GRIMDRAP did a guest spot on the song ‘Something Sinister This Way Comes’ on this album! It was nice being able to deliver them some signed copies after all these years! (And for those wondering, YES that is them wearing full sized flamingo costumes while playing extreme metal, alongside their saxophone player!)
Here’s to NEXT TIME, that better not be another nine years from now!
…Speaking of TALES FROM NOCTURNIA…
YESTERDAY we told you all how we got to minimum funding and were in striking distance of our first stretch goal for TALES FROM NOCTURNIA: The Complete Legendary Saga Revisited on KICKSTARTER. Fast forward ONE DAY - you all CROSSED that first stretch goal, which means EVERY physical backer will get a DRAGON’S LAIR POKER CHIP (pictured above). STRETCH GOAL #2 will be announced on our campaign page as soon as we can get the graphics made!

LASTLY - a QUICK HEIRS OF ISILDUR update: The coloring for THE PERILOUS PROSPECTS 3 pages is now 80% done and we expect it to be completely finished SOON. The issue is looking really REALLY good and we can’t for you all to see the ridiculous twists and turns in the story arc in this issue!
We’re also already working on the art for BOOK FOUR which is going to be more epic than you can shake a time travel portal at (is that even possible)?
