FAQs: THREE Questions Answered + SAMPLE Pages Added!
Today we answer THREE questions about the crowdfunding process and how it relates to us, plus for those that've never read our comics / graphic novels before, we've added some SAMPLE pages!
Hey everyone - just wanted to throw a QUICK update your way - we’ve added some SAMPLE pages to the campaign for: Heirs of Isildur ‘The Perilous Prospects Books 1-4’ (CHECK OUT THE CAMPAIGN HERE: www.tinyurl.com/heirstpp4), and we’ll answer a couple Frequently asked questions about crowdfunding in general, and how it relates to us. Before we talk a little more about those, however, we want to give you an update as to where the campaign stands:
So with 12 days to go in our 16 day campaign, we’re $772 away from the minimum funding level of $3500, which is the first major milestone. Once we reach that level, we’ll start adding STRETCH GOALS, where additional incentives will be included in the campaign (they could be based on backer count or dollar amount). The quicker we get to that minimum funding level, the quicker we can start adding additional incentives! We need YOU to help us get there!
SAMPLE PAGES ADDED!
Although there are art panels galore from the series all throughout the HEIRS OF ISILDUR Kickstarter campaign page, we know that many want to see full page samples of what the sequential art and lettering look like. For this reason, we’ve added the first SEVEN pages of Issue #1 to the campaign.
Why Issue #1? Because those that are NEW to the title will want to see how things start, and those pages introduce you to the three main groups at the onset:
* Those at Mykal Isildur’s estate on Shadow’s Haven’s farthest hill (Including Murk, Shiver, Remnant, Syndome, and Mykal)
* The townspeople of Shadow’s Haven (including the mayor and the constable)
and
* The Hemlocks, at their mansion
We know those that are ongoing fans of the series are most likely saying “well, that’s all fine and good, but I want to see NEW pages!” Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered as well. Either at minimum funding, OR at an unspoken benchmark goal, whichever we reach first, we’ll release the first TWO pages of issue #4 in a campaign update!
One thing we try to remember, is that not everyone is familiar with HOW Kickstarter works, what it’s purpose is, and how it related to us as creators. Today we answer THREE QUESTIONS / concerns that we get asked regularly:
QUESTION #1:
ISN’T CROWDFUNDING ONLY FOR PEOPLE TRYING TO GET A NEW PRODUCT TO MARKET? WHY DO COMIC CREATORS DO IT SO OFTEN?
A misconception that many people have is that sites like Kickstarter are only for a single time use to get a single product into the market. Every individual issue a comic creator produces is it’s own separate project. YES, one may build on the previous, but design and production EACH TIME is its own separate entity, that are VERY expensive.
In today’s market, crowdfunding is truly the only repeatable method to obtain funds to produce these projects. Live events currently have skyrocketing costs and diminishing returns, and traditional means (like being on a publisher), are about as financially stable as buying a scratch off lottery ticket. The likelihood of the vast majority of creators ever making any sustainable money in that traditional market are remote, and dwindling by the day. Crowdfunding is, BY FAR, the most sustainable means for content creators to find the direct support market for their product.
QUESTION #2:
I’D LOVE TO SUPPORT YOUR PROJECT, BUT I DON’T GET PAID UNTIL NEXT WEEK. CAN I STILL SUPPORT IT?
Absolutely! Kickstarter does not charge your card until a campaign completes. For Heirs TPP4, the final day is January 30th, so backer #1 or backer #100, you all will get charged on the same day. Getting in EARLY helps both you and us in many ways (we covered the reasons in a previous BLOG OF DESTINY). So if you’re waiting for a paycheck, OR if you aren’t sure ALL the items you want, but you KNOW you want to get in, go ahead and do it with confidence. You can always add on items later on!
QUESTION #3:
THE PERILOUS PROSPECTS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR QUITE SOME TIME. WHEN CAN WE EXPECT THE FINAL ISSUE OF THE ARC?
We know it takes quite a while to get an issue of TPP completed and out into the market (which is part of the reason why each issue is at least the size of a double issue comic, so you get a LOT of story to sustain you each time), but we can assure you that you won’t have to wait very long for the fifth and final issue in the story arc. Both TPP4 and TPP5-THE FINALE are slated for crowdfunding AND release in 2025!
