EVERYTHING is always NEW to SOMEONE!
Today we start a new initiative, profiling CHARACTERS from across our titles. We start with MYKAL ISILDUR, plus a FANPIC, a new article, and more!
Heyooooo! Matt & Steph from #TeamINSYM here, and the start to this year couldn't be any busier for us if we tried. Travel, campaigns being fulfilled, prep for new projects, and more, have us buzzing around like bees whose hive was just shaken.
That being said, one of our points of emphasis for 2024 is to do PROFILES on as many of our CHARACTERS as we possibly can from across all of our titles. Why? Because we adhere to the mantra 'Everything can always be new to somebody'. We want those of you just happening upon us for the first time to get to know the characters we've created, regardless of if they’re in a current title or not. You never know who you might vibe with, what might tickle that fancy, so we feel that this will be a great way to get some quick exposure to a story or character that you may’ve never heard of before! And for those that are long-time fans, a little refresher never hurt, right?
Today we're going to start with the main character from HEIRS OF ISILDUR- Mykal Isildur, as we prepare for THE PERILOUS PROSPECTS: BOOK THREE, launching on KICKSTARTER in less than two weeks, (February 6th). CHARACTER: MYKAL ISILDUR
STORY: HEIRS OF ISILDUR
No one personifies the phrase ‘Change of Fate’ quite like Professor Mykal Isildur. Just a short while ago he lived a single, solitary existence as the artisan and curator of the Father Time Emporium, a clock and watch repair shop, in the puritanical, conservative mountain enclave of SHADOW’S HAVEN. He was well respected in the community and was even recognized by the Havenites as their Citizen of the Year.
On the surface, he had the kind of importance that a person would want, but he always longed for more. That wish came to fruition more than he ever could’ve expected or imagined, but then it all came crashing down, literally.
Mykal found an abandoned scientific laboratory near his recently purchased estate. The machinery inside had previously been lost to time and decay, but Mykal repurposed and reconfigured, hoping to see what these contraptions were capable of. He was able to get them to power up, resulting in the opening of time portals. These one-way vortexes pulled individuals that were on the edge of their existential planes into the lab with him.
He became the leader, overseer, and friend, but complications arose just as soon as the first individual, Shiver, appeared. Peculiar occurrences, and rumors of temporary supernatural abilities arose. Mykal was stalked by a hooded figure, who later would reveal himself as Philip Arthur Hemlock, the last surviving member of ‘The Guild of the Golden Gear’.
Although they were the original creators of these time machines, they never had the kind of success that Mykal did. Hemlock unveiled horrific details of what happened decades before to his guild at the hands of enraged Havenites, as well as the colossal cover-up that followed. Hemlock gave Mykal a stern and ominous warning about the machines and their corruptive powers… but it was too late.
After a supernaturally enhanced explosion in the laboratory, those that were assembled into his group were left to fend for themselves, having to deal with apocalyptic consequences and aftermath, while he laid in a coma.
WHERE IS HE AT THE START OF THE PERILOUS PROSPECTS BOOK THREE?

Mykal has returned from his supernatural sabbatical to find himself without his house or laboratory due to the catastrophic explosion. He’s just learned that his best friend, Shiver, has somehow mystically replaced him in every role in his professional life, including his position with the village, and his ownership of the Father Time Emporium.
Upon awakening from his coma, Mykal finds himself in an unfamiliar location. Now he’s had one of the most mind-altering reveals unveiled to him. What is it? And can it help him to right the apocalypse that he and his people have unintentionally brought to the area?
WHAT / WHERE IS HIS ORIGIN / WHAT ARE HIS ASSOCIATIONS:
He’s the current Citizen of the Year in Shadow’s Haven. Owner and artisan at The Father Time Emporium. Mykal is also the love interest of MURK.

Not every profile will be this long, but for the main character in our longest running title, it was going to be lengthy. We hope you enjoyed this, as we intend to continue creating and sharing these for the foreseeable future!
